Title: inference Rating: G Character: Kal-El Spoilers: Pilot Disclaimers: Don't own them and this little bit is not meant to infringe on any copyrights. The hatch opened and Kal-El sat up. Standing, he looked around and blinked rapidly, his eyes shifting thru colors until they settled on the optimum colorization for this planet and dimension. After such a long time in the spaceship; everything was really bright and very loud. Even the smells were loud. Wrinkling his nose and biting his lower lip, Kal-El tried not to be overwhelmed. There were sounds and smells he had no names for and he was scared. He tried very hard to remember what Father had said. Father said he would be brave and strong and his parents would be very proud of him. He was safe here. His father wouldn't have sent him here if he wasn't safe. And he was supposed to do something. Something really important. Kal-El climbed from his ship and jumped to the ground. The soil was warm beneath his bare feet. He shook himself and took a step. He was brave. He was Kal-El, son of Jor-El and Lara. He was sent here not because they didn't love him, but because they did love him and he was supposed to do something really important. He stared up at the planet's sun, smiling as he started walking. He liked yellow. It made him feel really strong and reminded him of his Mother. And the sky was blue; it made him feel brave and reminded him of his Father. He heard a roar and looked up as a meteor streaked crimson smoke across the sky. He stopped and stared and knew what it was. Home, he thought longingly and bit his lip to stop it from quivering. He blinked back tears and straightened his shoulders. He was Kal-El, the last son of Krypton and he would not cry. His home was here now. His Father sent him here because he knew it would make him strong. And he had to be strong if he was going to help them. Because that was what he was supposed to do. Help them. He took a deep breath, he wasn't quite sure how he was supposed to do that, but he would try. He started walking again. He would try because he was Kal-El, son of Jor-El and Lara and he would try because that was what he was supposed to do. He paused. There was a metal box in his path. Kal-El hunkered down so he could take a look inside. There were two beings strapped inside the box. The male blinked at him in a daze. The female just stared at him. Kal-El smiled. His Father was right. He was brave and strong and he could help. He pulled open the doorway of the metal box and pushed it out of the way. He smiled at them again and reached out. Because helping them was what he was supposed to do. *~fin* Comments, critiques, grownup!Kal always welcome here, or at shelia452@hotmail.com.
